Setting up Your IMAP or POP Email Address in Apple Mail

  1. From the Mail menu, select Preferences
  2. Click Create an Account (+ symbol). 
  3. In the Add Account window, enter your full name, email address and password, and then click Continue
  4. In the Incoming Mail Server window, from the Account Type list, select IMAP or POP.
  5. Enter the following account information:
    Description
    The name for this mail server (e.g. yourdomain.com.au)
    Incoming Mail Server
    IMAP accounts: mail.yourdomain.com.au
    POP accounts: mail.yourdomain.com.au
    User Name and Password
    Your email address and email account password
  6. Click Continue
  7. (Optional) To enable SSL, in the Incoming Mail Security window, check Use Secure Sockets Layer.
  8. In the Incoming Mail Security window, select Authentication, and click Continue
  9. In the Outgoing Mail Server window, enter the following account information:
    Description
    The name for this mail server (e.g. secureserver.net)
    Outgoing Mail Server
    mail.yourdomain.com.au (port 587)
    Select Use Authentication
    User Name and Password
    Your email address and email account password
  10. Click Continue
  11. (Optional) To enable SSL, in the Outgoing Mail Security window, check Use Secure Sockets Layer.
  12. In the Outgoing Mail Security window, select Authentication. Click Continue
  13. An Account Summary window displays the account details. Verify that your account information is accurate, and then click Continue
  14. If SSL was enabled, under Advanced Settings change the following port values: 
    Incoming Port
    IMAP - 993
    POP - 995
    Outgoing Port
    465
